“We believe that a healthy body is key for a happy, healthy and confident mind. Griggs Orthopedics is dedicated to health and wellness through sport to empower girls, build self-esteem and promote healthy habits.“ – Rhett Griggs, MD
The gOgirl program was started by Griggs Orthopedics in 2015, as a mountain biking program for Gunnison Valley female youth. Now in its third year, the program falls under the gO Initiative, a (pending) 501c3 Colorado Corporation intended to educate, inspire and develop athletes of all ages and abilities in mountain sports. As with other gO Initiative programs, we provide financial support and opportunities to optimize a strong body and mind through functional fitness, healthy lifestyle guidance and achievement. The gOgirl Program has always focused on developing confidence both on and off the trails by giving them the resources they need to not only become a successful competitive or non-competitive athlete, but also a successful member of our community or any community in which they live.
This year, Griggs Orthopedics is extending the gOgirl program and partnering with CBMR’s Mountain Sports Team, to develop the gOgirl Mountain Sports Team. The program will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays beginning June 12, 2017. Each day will start with an important life lesson directly linked to a mountain biking or other sporting skill, followed by lift-served and other trail riding at the upper end of the valley, in addition to many other fun activities. Both entities are excited about the partnership, in hopes of providing the most robust athletic program for young girls in the valley.
Join us Mondays and Wednesdays this summer from 9:00 am-4:00 pm for some fun in the sun! This girls-only group will go mountain biking , hiking, running and take part in strength & conditioning and nutrition classes, plus so much more! There’s nothing these girls won’t be able to do when this summer session is over!
**All rides/riders will be split up according to ability levels.
**Trails which we will incorporate include: CBMR Mountain Trails, Lower/Upper Loop systems, Lupine Trails, Snodgrass, Strand Hill, 401, 403, Deer Creek, Doctor’s Park, Dyke Trail.
