Start your Independence Day with a magnificent run through the trails of Crested Butte!
WHAT: gO’s 4th of July Gothic Trail Run, sponsored by the gO Initiative
WHEN: Tuesday, July 4 at 8:00 am
HOW: Register online until July 2nd
Late Registration/ In-person registration at the Crested Butte Nordic Center on July 3rd from 9:00am-4:00pm. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
**Interested in running, but maybe a little bit shorter? Join Gothic’s 1/3 Marathon that takes you from Gothic to the Town of Crested Butte on a little more direct route. (http://www.rmbl.org/visit-rmbl/events/gothic-to-crested-butte-13rd-marathon/)
WHERE: Race will begin at the Gothic Townsite at 8:00 am. Shuttles will begin pick up at 6:30 am from the Visitor’s Center. The last shuttle will depart at 7:20 am. You can also drive yourself, but please keep in mind this is a point to point race and there is hardly any parking at Gothic.
COST: June 1-June 30: $60/July (late) Registration: $65
*Every race will receive a t-shirt and poster
ROUTE: Start at Gothic Town site, head down Gothic road until you reach the Snodgrass Parking Lot. Turn left onto Lower Meander (CBMR trail) and continue until Deer Park. Take a right on Deer Park and take Deer Park up all the way to Prospector. Continue on Prospector until you cross a fire road. Stay on Prospector all the way until you hit a T Bone with Painter Boy where you take a left. Follow Painter Boy until you get to a 4-way junction. Continue straight ahead to Primer. Run Primer to the top of Red Lady Lift to Upper Westside to Westside to Happy Hour. At Happy Hour, runners will take a left and follow Happy Hour all the way to the Upper Loop. Take a left on the Upper Loop. From the Upper Loop, runners will run to Tony’s Trail, take a right on Tony’s Trail and end at McCormick Ranch. From there, they will take a right onto 8th Street and end at Rainbow Park.
**There will be limited water on course, please be ready to be self sufficient for this race!
Approximate distance is roughly 14 miles
Total Ascent: 1449 feet
Total Descent: 2004 feet
COURSE MARKINGS: Green “gO” flags will mark the course and we will have course marshals at major intersections.
AWARD CEREMONY: After the parade around 12:15/12:30. Top 3 Male/Female will receive prizes!
