The gO Team has really been making a name for itself at a few National level races this past month. The Leadville 100 brings top mountain bikers from around the world for some high elevation racing “across the sky.” Over 1,500 racers toed the line on August 10th, and team gO placed three riders in the top 20, as well as a 5th place in the women’s division. Last weekend, the inaugural Grand Junction Off-Road drew a heavy lineup of pro and amateur riders to tackle some challenging desert trails and sweltering heat. Again, Griggs Ortho was all over the podium, taking the top spots in both the men’s and women’s amateur fields, and with four gO racers with top 20 finishes in the Pro fields.
A lot of blood, sweat and tears go into training for and competing in races like these, and all of these racers deserve a huge pat on the back. But there’s so much that goes on behind the scenes that makes successful racing really possible. People like Dave Ochs, who is scrambling around last minute to figure out lodging and logistics for the team, and sending us absurd but somehow motivational emails. Dr. Griggs, who,is always checking in on us or patching us up after crashes. He even loaned out his personal bike for a week to a Leadville racer! And sponsorship from High Mountain Concepts, Chuck’s Glass, Go To Guide, Elk Mountain Lodge, and Pike Builders. You make traveling and racing feasible, and we appreciate all you do for the team and the Gunnison Valley community.
